Neolithic dwellings

The Archeological Museum Neolithic Dwellings in Stara Zagora is a typical on-site museum, established in 1979. The museum is arranged at the very same place of the archeological excavations that found the remains of an ancient settlement, which was inhabited for a long period of time – from the late Stone age (6th millennium B.C.) to the Bronze Age (3rd millennium B.C.). Two Neolithic dwellings with all the specific features have been preserved here. Today they are considered the best preserved dwellings of that period in Bulgaria and in the world. One will see here finds of the cult plastics – bone-made and marble statuettes. All exhibits in this museum are original and reveal the lifestyle and the beliefs of the people at that ancient time. The Neolithic dwellings are included in the indicative list of UNESCO in 1984. The site is open for visitors all year round.
